Links Related to #10
Here are a few links related to Episode #10:
- David Irving: This article summarizes the situation. Basically, Irving sued an author who wrote a book alleging that Irving was a Holocaust denier. The British courts ruled against Irving, in effect officially stating that he is a denier.
- Computer version of Hitler's War can be found here. There's also a link on that page to the rules for Campaign III.
- Music: The intro music is "Snake Charmer" by the Warmers. The end music is "Flood of Foreign Capital" by Burning Airlines. BA doesn't have its own page, but here is a link to the band's record label. All music used with permission.

I've started a new gaming blog that some of you might be interested in. It deals with all kinds of games, including RPGs, card games, and Eurogames in addition to wargames, so some of you may not be interested. But if you are, feel free to check it out.

Episode Eight released
Episode Eight has been released and is available from the links on the right. Juice, iTunes, and other automated subscriptions should commence shortly, but you can also find direct download links at http://contactwiththeenemy.libsyn.com/
In this episode, Jon and Martin talk about general wargaming topics, and Jon and Ben discuss C&C:Ancients. Audio quality is low.
This will be the last episode with Martin as a contributor, due to difficulty scheduling recording sessions. Paul plans to continue with the podcast and Jon and Ben are still willing to contribute, so hopefully more episodes will be released in the future.

Episode Five released
Episode Five is released, and can be downloaded from the link at the right. It's also available by searching and subscribing through juice, iTunes, or other download tools.
We discuss the state of the podcast and the lost episode, Jon makes another guest contribution (this one about 1960, originally submitted for the lost Twilight Struggle episode), Paul relates another famous quotation to wargaming, and Martin continues his segments on the history behind CDG events. Martin also does a short phone interview with Tony Curtis of GMT Games about their generous offer to unemployed gamers.
Programming note: The audio quality seems to be continuing to improve, but Martin was a little under the weather while recording and sounds pretty scratchy. Comments and suggestions on specific audio problems are always welcome

Almost there!
We'll have a new episode soon--I hope in the next week. It's been far too long, and for that I can only apologize. Both of us have just been swamped. Episode #5 will cover Twilight Struggle and 1960: Making of the President.
We've got some new music in the show, and I wanted to give some links for some of it.
First, we're using Jawbox's "U-Trau," from the album "For Your Own Special Sweetheart." Thanks to De Soto records for permission for using the track.
Jawbox
Second, we used Burning Airlines' "Flood of Foreign Capital" as a transitional piece. Thanks to J. Robbins for letting us use the track.

Dice Tower Segments Posted
In response to several requests, I have posted some of the segments I recorded for the Dice Tower podcast over at our Libsyn site. There are three files. The first is my segment on visiting the Antietam battlefield; the second combines the three segments I did on command and control; and the third includes segments on art in wargames, politics in wargames, and ETO games.
Enjoy.
Paul
Enjoy.

A Bit Slow
We haven't had a chance to record episode #5 yet because we've both been very busy. Martin in particular has had little time between work and moving.
I have been blogging a bit over at social.consimworld.com, using the name akiva.
And I check BGG fairly regularly; my username there is pfglenn.

Episode Four Released
Episode Four is now out, and should hit the syndicated feeds shortly. The main topic is Napoleon, the block game from Avalon Hill and Columbia Games, and we also talk about ConsimWorld Expo.
Paul's individual segment continues his series relating famous quotes to wargaming, and I start a series on the historical background for CDG events. We also welcome our first guest contributor, our long time friend Jon, who talks about multiplayer wargaming.
Note: I (Martin) under-reported the number of monster games set up at ConsimWorld Expo by half. During the episode I say there appeared to be more than forty monsters set up, but a later recount showed it was actually over 80. It was quite the event.

Episode Three Released
Our third episode, featuring a discussion of Up Front and Attack Sub along with a quick bio of Bill Mauldin and a little bit more about the title of our podcast, is now online.
iTunes subscribers should see it pretty soon, and the links on the right side of this page should provide a direct link once the feed refreshes. Going directly to http://www.techscaliber.com/CWtE.rss will work right now if you don't feel like waiting.
Thanks for listening!

Episode Two released
Our second episode, featuring a discussion of GMT's Here I Stand along with a little bit more about our wargaming likes and dislikes, is now online.
It will probably take a little while for all of the automated tools (such as the feed listing on the right side of this page) to notice the update, but going directly to http://www.techscaliber.com/CWtE.rss will work right now if you don't feel like waiting.

Volume increased
(crossposted from the comment section on ConsimWorld)
Paul figured out how to up the overall volume, and I've updated the file and the rss feed.
Fair warning: being able to hear us better will not necessarily make the listening experience any more enjoyable :)

Welcome
Welcome to the blog for Contact With The Enemy, a new podcast about wargaming from Martin Burke and Paul Glenn. We'll both be posting here on anything that strikes our fancy, as well as announcing new episodes.
The RSS feed for the show is: http://www.techscaliber.com/CWtE.rss
Keep in mind that we're not expert gamers or sound engineers. We're doing this because we love wargames, and podcasting is fun. So we hope the sound quality is good, and that the content is interesting.
We currently have 1 episode posted, covering Hannibal: Rome v Carthage.
